Wheatley vs Tadley Away
Wheatley traveled to Tadley buoyed off of the back of a great win at home to Risborough,
Wheatley took time to get the journey out of their legs gifting Tadley three soft tries inside 20 minutes after sloppy play turned over possession,
With the hosts keen to move the ball wide at every opportunity Wheatley were able to get into great field position with quick ball and forwards queuing up to carry into the heart of the home sides defence.
However too often Tadley were let off the hook with Wheatley lacking the cutting edge to finish off some great flowing rugby with any reward.
Late in the half Wheatley did collect some points with strong carrying and quick play Jack Taylor exploited the gaps in the defensive line to snipe over with Aaron Laman converting, 10-7
Wheatley continued to press but turned over possession in the 22 only to concede a length of the field try giving the visitors a mountain to climb in the second half, 20-7
The second half saw another quick score from Tadley opening up a 20 point lead but to Wheatley credit they stuck to the task inland and with the home sides bigger pack tiring Wheatley exploded this with more quick play and grabbing two further tries from Toby Butler and Dan Bland with Jordan Hook converting one bringing the score back to 27-19
The following restart confusion reined with the ball clearly not traveling 10 meters the Berkshire ref waved play on to allow the Tadley player to go over unopposed bringing the final score to 32-19
The score line is probably not a reflection on how close the game was, Wheatley produced some fine rugby at times and with a little more composure things could have easily been different.
